New Member-Satellite Provider D/L Speed Issue

Where I now live (Montgomery County, KS) my only choices for Internet service are Satellite or Cellular. In November 2013, I went with Dish Internet mainly because I already have their TV service and their plans were decent. My issue is that I pay for  up to 10 Mbps and average 1-2 Mbps 99% of the time. 2 Dish techs came in on separate visits in January and found nothing wrong showing excellent satellite point-ment to my house dish.

My questions to the forum are if you have Dish, do you have the same D/L speeds? Do any of you recommend Exede over Dish? FYI, it is unanimous from all sources Hughes is the worse off all choices and cellular is not a good option due to horrible data plans.

Many thanks for any inputs.

I have been on HughesNet for 4 years and their service is extremely erratic and problems are rarely ever resolved. Somehow, most problems correct themselves just before a service person arrives; all tests come out above average, then, two days later, back to Paleolithic dial up speeds. I have no choice in ISP. I have 5 computers and 4 OS's and a wealth of speed test data, all of which is dismissed out of hand... service at HN... 10 down 2 up = 2 down .04 up 90% of the time.
