Actually it looks like it could be provider level now that i look into it.. Would this cause issues in accuracy of the speed test? mudmanc4 Posted October 16, 2015 CID Share Posted October 16, 2015 Hi Loren, The packet loss would be the discussion between your local network and the specified testing server, as you state this is a peering issue that could be the result of a multitude of reasons. Any time there is packet retransmission it will effect the performance of the line. You might do well running the testmy.net auto test for at least 24 hours to get more detail as to if this is a permanent issue or an overload issue between networks. Hop 2 is what I'm sure you're talking about, the "???" with 100% packet loss. You're not really losing packets there, your request is just being ignored by that particular router. It's fairly common and doesn't affect your performance. Sometimes a certain point in the route will do this because ICMP (which is what traceroute uses to work) is low priority... some routers choose to ignore it all together for security reasons. I pay for 100mbps down and 10mbps upload.
