My computer with the Dial up connection has this: BroadCom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller can my computer run the main dial up connection...? php Posted March 18, 2005 CID Share Posted March 18, 2005 see how in the pic, the wires are the same colors in the same spots? thats a straight-through cable. you need a router or switch to connect to another computer with it. a crossover cable has (usually) green and orange pairs switched, and brown and blue pairs switched. if the colors arent in the same order, its probably a crossover cable Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Been there, done that, but why are you going to share that very small bandwidth? never mind, I did it, well if you wanting help, we are going to need to know more about your set up first.... like what windows versions on both machines, and did you get a x-over cable yet....
