Newby with wifi dropout.

Hi, I am here not because I have knowledge but quite the opposite. I have been with Virgin Media for 4 months now and have the latest hub with 100mb line. However my smart TV is running IPTV on a Firestick and both that and the BBC iplayer buffers or freezes for upto two minutes and sometimes I have to reboot the  stick which sorts out the problem usually but not always. The firestick/TV is about 15 feet away from the router with only one solid wall and one plasterboard wall between it and its a newbuild so the solid wall isn't thick. I have tried rebooting the router and the stick with no long term results. I have tried doing a speedtest when it happens and get normal results of 60-80 mb. I tried a test behind the TV and got one bad result (2.5mb) but that was one out of about six I did at the same time. Its as if the wifi router just stops passing the connection through to the wifi occasionally. PC is connected to the router directly and have never had any problem streaming/downloading ect. I have thought about a separate router but a good one is quite expansive. Also thought of an 'over the mains' plug set which should sort it I think.....suggestions?
