Korean Fiber

100Mbps data transfers

The Electronic Times Internet reports that KT, the largest communication carrier in Korea, plans to launch the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service next month via wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical networks (WDM-PONs), the first commercial FTTH service in the world. ETI sources indicate that KT could kick off WDM-PON-based FTTH service to individual subscribers as early as next month which would allows users to exchange mobile multimedia data in real time at a speed of 100Mbps, both for upstream and downstream.

i thought sweden had it?

Im saying they are wrong, Sweden had fiber to homes in 1999, so they are a few years behind  ;)

my reply to them

i have read recently in a news report from you

http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/61765

"the first commercial FTTH service in the world."

this is not quiet true

sweden has had fiber for ages now 10mb symetrical or 100mb symetrical.

what about the 1G in japan i know its not quiet to the home the 1G but there are some other fiber packages to the home in japan.

should u not revise this news about being the 1st FTTH in the world.

Sweden had fiber to homes in 1999.

By the way, i also see ppl claiming Japan to be first with 1 Gbps to homes, but thats also incorrect

Labs2 from Sweden offer 1 Gbps to homes from late 2004
