This is not a speedtest! (RE:beelinebandwidthtest.com)

Its a fuckin joke! hehe

i tested my speed against http://www.beelinebandwidthtest.com/

look how accurate my result was hehe

Btw i got 10 Mbps fiber = 1250 KB/s maximal

beeline1.jpg

I noticed my speed boosted up if i spammed the start test button, i know alot of test work that way you need to clear cache.

But when i saw their was a top 40 list i laughed :)

look here

http://www.beelinebandwidthtest.com/top/

I like stats but this was just too much hehe

Tnx Ca3le for a nice site and a very accurate test, even tho i will never get nice speed across the atlantic :)

You think? It's in holland, so a fair bit away from where you live.

I get a steady 280 KB/sec when testing. Which is just under what I normally get.

Edit: but the file is only 175k, too small for real results.

I say its kinda useless, speed is like a lottery for some ppl lol

Im not saying i should get maximal speed at this test. Im saying its spread is too big, and like you said the filesize is too low, probl works great for 56k.....

But explain this someone......... how could i get a score of 2314KB/s = 18.5 Mbps when im on a 10 Mbps connection...........

and i dont live so far away from holland :P

Because the test is flawed. Too small of a file and plain inaccurate.

All other speed tests are pointless, because Testmy.net exists :D

lol yea !!!

I wish we had a testmy.net in europe too, cos almost all testsites here are crap compared to this.

Okay.. I am waiting for a DVD to burn... so I am going to write an over elaborite answer to this... :haha:

I already have the technology built into my test to do that without having to branch off into a completely new server.

Heck, I can do an east coast, west coast, German, Korean, Canadian, French, Asian etc. etc. servers if I wanted to. I just need reliable companies or individuals to host the files for me... because I am not going to pay for off shore servers :-) ~~~~ I personally (if I was not in the USA) would rather test off a US server, because lets face it... most of the sites you visit are going to be hosted in the US. I would rather know what speed I'm going to get on those servers than know what speed I would get if I grabbed a file from a server down the street... it is a more realistic number... it does not look as pretty on paper but at least your not lying to yourself :-D ----

But for the people that want to see want to see their line maxed out, to see if they are indeed getting what they are paying for I would be more than happy to add a section for additional servers... but again, I need servers. Anyone that would be willing would be getting exposure to their site in return for the bandwidth taken... you can't pay for that kind of advertising... especially if you figure that the people that are going to be pulling the files from that server are doing so because they either live in that area or close to that area... so they may be interested in that affiliate sites content.

If anyone out there has a fast server located in Europe that would like some publicity in exchange for some bandwidth... I will have no problem adding the test to the site, I just need someone to upload a few files to their server... tell me the location and that's it... I will even make the test pages branded with that host sites logo (header and footer. It is though key that the server be fast and on a good backbone ~~ and of course a good idea that the server have and adequate data transfer allowance because hosting bandwidth tests... well take a lot of bandwidth :-) (though I am sure that a Europe server would not need even close to the transfer needed to host my US version)

But the ability to easily do this is already built into my exsisting scripts via my custom testing --- http://www.testmy.net/gen.html

Please nobody come at my with an offer to host a file on a free host... or a slow server, you will just be wasting my time, only the best for my users

I could even go the extra step and make it so that depending upon where the user testing is from I can have the test automatically forward the user to the server closest to them.

Though I do get hits from other countries ... it still only accounts for 1-2% of my total traffic -- here are some of the countries besides the USA that visited last month

I try to keep the server I'm downloading off as close as possible, so a USA server usually isn't a good choice for me. Unless it's on a huge backbone like testmy.net :)

Thats site hasn't been updated in a very long time. A time when most people were still on dial up it would appear. The test file isn't large enough to test most other connections.

Yes i reckon your right, however any DL of a file will produce some kind of reading..... (THE READING I GOT THOUGH SHOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH HIGHER)

Sure it should have been higher , thats if your running on anything much faster then dial up or slow satellite. The small test file size doesn't' allow for the OS tuning components of your network to even get complete readings to adjust before the connections terminated.

The faster your connection is , the larger the test file size will have to be to get an accurate reading. I'm certain there's more to it then just that .

spell check wasn't your friend yet...and there was no auto-correct yet either...ff and google chrome didn't tell you that you needed to correct either...hahaha

spelling was never the detail you were focused on
