Hi forum,,

Great forum here. I looked around for a while to solve my problem but I could'nt. Can someone please help me? I have a Sattelite connection through Shownet (based in Kuwait). The upload is through DSL 64 KB and the download is via sattelite 1MB but I get much lower download at about 30-60 Kbps!  The odd thing is that my download when I test it is  ok::

Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 3100 Kbps about 3.1 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB)

Download Speed is:: 378 kB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Wed Sep 25 2002 06:46:33 GMT+0300 (Arab Standard Time)

Bottom Line:: 55X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.71 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 88.79 % faster than the average for host (140.34)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-U6A0ZCBXM

What seems to be the problem?

By the way I I am running winXp

thanks in advance

I'll need more information. Is your speed slow when you are surfing the web or is it when you download files?

It is slow when I am downloading files. It used to be 100-200 Kbps now its slower its like 30-60 Kbps.

What is your advertised speed. If possible, can you ping your connection so I can see what I need to do?

Thanks

Its 1Mbps, download via sattelite and 64 kbps upload via DSL.

Sorry I dont know how to ping my connection !! can you tell me how can I do that?

Thanks for your help :)
