gina Posted April 9, 2005 CID Share Posted April 9, 2005 I am trying to set up DSL on my computer ( windows XP). The network tells me that I have an invalid IP address and it will not renew the IP Address. Does anyone have a suggestion that I could try to get this working? If not, then do this: Start - run - type 'cmd' type 'ipconfig /release' at the command prompt and wait for it to release. Then type 'ipconfig /renew' and see if it pulls a new one. gina Posted April 9, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 9, 2005 Thank you. yes, I have tried that but it gives me and error saying " an error occured while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. cak46 Posted April 10, 2005 CID Share Posted April 10, 2005 Gina: You can try dropping the speed and duplex of your nic to 10 half-duplex. Then try the release/renew. Right-click on my computer & select properties from the menu. 2.) Click on the hardware tab & select the device manager button. 3.) Inside of device manager, click the plus next to "+Network Adapters" & double-click on the connection you are using. 4.) The properties window should be opened now.
