Heya all moved from sweden to the uk about 6 months ago and had to leave my bbb connection and switch to 1mbit talktalk broadband which was a bit hard to get used to.. anyways ive looked around and dont think i could find anyone else in this forum that had talktalk as well and mine is kinda slow transfers are always around 60 which is a bit annoying.

I'm running Xp with Sp1 and im quite new to all this tweaking and was wondering if anyone has any good tips i also did a tcp/ip analyzer and got mss1420 and i couldnt find any settings for MSS1420. thanks in advance

tjenare Spawni and welcome to the forum :)

always nice to see some Swedes here, even tho you live in uk now, i can imagine how hard it must be to switch down to 1 Mbps from bbb

anyways i think you could get atleast 80% of your cap against testmy.net

follow all these steps and post again https://testmy.net/topic-2097

By the way your MTU is off, it

try this

download Dr.Tcp http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.exe

open it and make sure all settings looks like this screenshot, if you see any values in the fields, use delete key and erase them. You need to scroll on the Network adapters and check that no MTU value is set, the field must be blank

now click save and exit

download cablenut https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=64

open adjuster and if you see any value in any field, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry, now it should look like this attached screenshot

click exit

now reboot, also reboot your modem, leave it off for 30 full seconds

now make a new tweaktest here http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks

post result URL adress and also test your speed both at this site and against my server http://www.testmy.net/d_load.php?ta=1&top=VanBuren&pop=1&ni=1

hows your upload?

you can test this tweakfile and see if it improve your speed even more

download this attached .zip and unzip it, dubbleclick on the file and click save to registry in cablenut adjuster

i would leave it like that, 742 Kbps then add approx 10 % TCP overhead and thats 816,2/1000 = 82% of cap

i assume your capped at 256 Kbps upstream, so if you add 10% to 228 thats 250,8/ 256 = 98% of cap

you can try increasing download speed, by changing the TcpWindowSize

the default value for you is 17280

increase that in steps of 1440 until you reach a point where speed dosent increase any more

so the value to start with is 17280 + 1440 = 18720 and the next 18720 + 1440 = 20160 and so on

remember to click save to registry each time you set a new value and reboot

good luck
