Please note it is AOL im dealing with here.

They did that lame "free double speed thing". So yea, my 256 was upgraded n i was downloading at 55kbs....for a while. Now its back down to below 30 and the tech guy said this is maximum and treated me like im stupid.

Can anyone help me out her as i have no idea what to do!

i belive the problem is aol top speed technology

see the lil aim guy that runs real fast

well

he needs rehydration,replenshiment,gatoraide!

Pour 3 liters of gatoraide into the pc directly through the"pour spout"

located on the back of the case, for best results do this with the pc on!

truth is mate aol suks, despite this try tweaking ur systems mtu mss rwin etc with the suggestions these guys have stuff really works unles the aol guy is reseting everything lol

aol is a big scam, im suprised they dont have thier own operating system yet,

oops prolly shouldent of said that there prolly gona get hard to work on that right now,

dammit.. :mad2:

lol, , I agree with you.  I used to have aol dial-up for one month before I got cable.  When I cancelled the aol service, they kept on telling me to stay as custemor, I said I'd pass, and a month later they call me again and offer me 3 months free to join aol again, I refused and told them to stop calling me, and told them I already had a internet service provider,

ive been there and will never go back :angry5:

when i used up al my free 3000 hours in 2 month <--wtf :whaa:

thye started charging me

when i noticed aol was actually slowing down my connection i became furious

science then i will neve rinstal another aol protocol ever even aim messenger

my suggestion is to go buy sum weed, kick back, smoke it, and imagine fast internet

its what i usta do

now i rol up a join or pack a bowl and by the time im done smoking it my song is here or my porno movie is at least 50% down :)

still i recive calls asking me to re do thier service

i exclaim to them that aol is for retards like u who sell it

thye become speachless and dont call back for a while

i also went through hell, and a line of idiots to get it disconnected

to this day im ashamed i even paid for aol at 1 time

i think aol need sto be destroyed and the lil aol guy need sto be put in a wheele chair

Stay on topic guys..

512 - 60 kbs down constant

256 - 31kbs down constant

To anwser your question, im guessing they did half your connection. .

but it still wouldnt hurt to try cablenut tweaks

Im on DSL type thing, using the modem that came with the AOL pack. Someone said it may have been my phone company putting a cap on my line making it 256

I'm not sure if they still do it. Back a couple years ago the AOL, Earthlink types just resold  the local Telco DSL.  Most Telcos cap the Resellers DSL at lower rates than their own DSL. No way to increase speed due to contracts between  the Telco and  reseller(s). Not sure if they do that with resold Covad.  The only way usually is to get the Telcos full speed DSL is to drop the reseller, (AOL in this case) and sign up with the local Telco. HTH
