does anyone know if their is a way to flash bios without using a floppy drive instead using a CD drive. my bios is messed up. when i turn on my computer i get an error message saying Hardware monitor failure. it ask to press F1 to continue and F2 to enter setup. and the time and date is wrong. when i disconnect my computer from the power outlet for a few seconds ,  it takes me to a advanced menu where the time and date is also wrong.

motherboard--A7S-LE REV

bios--AC PI BIOS Revision 1002LE 05/09/2001

You might put inthe correct time& date see if it stays. If it doesn't then check your battery like btw1953 said.

on the other if your cd is a cd burner® then you should be able to DL to it like a floppy & use it the same way.

You may have to go into your bios & make the cd instead of the HD as your first start up device so it will do the flash from the cd.I have always used a floppy but I think that would work.

were you doing something to your bios before you started getting the error message?

I agree with bwt:  but if you want to test, do what cholla suggests and then shutdown, unplug, hit the power button, then plug back in and start'er up to see if your time stays or not.  Sounds like a battery to me as well.

i think you people are right. when i removed the battery to check what kind it is, i then put it back in , restarted my computer , and i received a CMOS battery failed and checksome error or something like that

Restart it again & see what it says.

it starts up normally with no error message

but i still get the usual

Hardware monitor Failure

F1 to continue F2 to enter power setup

If you still have the cover off, check to make sure all your fans are turning while it's running. (CPU especially).
