SBC Yahoo Dsl seems sluggish

hi I'm a big noob so pardon me if i don't understand a lot of what your talking about, but i did understand and completed the sticky before i posted this. hope u can help, i don't want to be fragg while playing counter strike. :)

I am running Microsoft XP Professional Edition w/ SP2. i am currently on SBC Yahoo DSL at an advertised speed of 1.5Mbps (down) and 384 Kbps (up).

wait is that fastest it gonna get for me or for xyther4523? cause mines is only 76%...

Actually your at ~86%.  1301/1500=86.7% Don't let the database for various ISPs here fool you. It's a tool, not an absolute. ;)

Your on the money for 1500/384 SBC DSL. Nice ping times too.  :D

hehe thats funny....those ISPs cant do math o well, but is 86.7% good enough or can there be over 100%?

No Telco DSL or Telco DSL reseller gives full advertised speed.  :cry:  There are overhead losses inherent that are just a fact of life. Some will "over provision" to offset some of those losses, but not all. Look my sig, click it. See, Verizon does over provision to some extent, but not enough to over come all the loses. I have "advertized" 3000/768. SBC in my experience does not over provision. Don't sweat it. Your looking good, and ready to FRAG ON !!!
