My laptop (wireless) download is barely at 10% while my desktop is even worse, at 2.24% I really need some tips on how to improve my speed... please help!!!!!! The horrifying stats: :::.. FallowEarth Posted July 15, 2005 CID Share Posted July 15, 2005 My greetings as well, bribri135 Since both computers on your network are having trouble, I am tempted to say that your router may be slowing you down. It could also be your modem though. The best way to refresh these is by doing a powercycle like this: -shut down computers -power down router by pulling the power cord -power down the modem using the same method as above -let everything sit at least 1 minute, check that all connections are secure -power up your modem, wait 1 min -power up your router, wait 1 min -bring up your computers then post some test results once again to see if there is any difference! You can also bypass the router (connect your computer directly to the modem) to see if you are getting full speeds that way, that will narrow down whether it's a router issue, or a service issue. You can get firmware updates for the router here: http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WGU624.asp and current drivers for the adapters here: http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WG511U.asp make sure that you have both, but since they are both from Netgear, they should be 100% compatable. bribri135 Posted July 18, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 18, 2005 I haven't used any tweaks, but I downloaded cablenut after reading the fourm, and I'm not sure which one i should use. my advertised speeds are 4000/368 btw: does anyone know a really router I can get that won't decrease my speed by upwards of 50%?
