Hello,

I'm using Window XP Pro with SP2 installed.  My internet provider is Comcast and I recently bought the 6 Mbps down package and my internet is running through a router.  I have two problems with my internet.  First is that the speed is unstable and secondly, my speed isn't reaching half of the speed that Comcast advertise.  Everyone is so friendly in this forum so I hope somebody could help me out.  :D

Problem#1

I downloaded CableNut and  the file VanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_7_ALL_WIN_OS_AND_SAT.  I unziped the file to C:/Program Files/CableNut and I followed the instructions and saved the settings to the registry then restart my computer

My speed was slightly faster after the tweak, but the internet speed was still unconstant.  The speed is always the fastest around this when I turn on or restart the computer on an average:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 3525 Kbps about 3.5 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

Download Speed is:: 430 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1)

Test Time:: Wed Jul 20 2005 20:56:40 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time)

Bottom Line:: 63X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.38 sec

Diagnosis: 90% + Okay : running at 96.92 % of your hosts average (Comcast.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-4TGCYWP0B

It's not often that my internet speed reach the basic plan (4 Mbps package) so reaching the 6 Mbps down package that my parents bought is out of the question (my dad told me that he had paid for that Comcast Tier for about a month already).

Problem #2

Then after a few hours from the time I turn on the computer, the internet sorta slows down.  For example, after I was done uploading a video clip at yousendit.com (which always fail upload for some odd reason), the speed dropped to these speeds and doesn't go back up unless I restart the computer again (I've already read this thread https://testmy.net/topic-4257 and I made sure that my computer wasn't affected by disk-errors, spywares, adwares, etc)::

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 1575 Kbps about 1.6 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

Download Speed is:: 167 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2)

Test Time:: Wed Jul 20 2005 23:00:12 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time)

Bottom Line:: 24X faster than 56K 1MB download in 6.13 sec

Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 37.61 % of your hosts average (Comcast.net)

I was wondering, did I apply the settings incorrectly to have cause these two problems? :(
