D-link Routers with FiOS!

Ok I have FiOS 15/2 and they said I needed the dlink router to get the maximum speeds out of the 15/2 which seems to be right, They have an updated firmware, But when I see the firmware of the router its very old compared to the firmware that is out on dlinks site. Is Verizon going to keep updates to the firmware or just have it never updated. Or would it be ok to install a new firmware.

Welcome to the forums, ClyftonSM

I don't have FIOS, but I believe Verizon uses custom firmware (Model VDI-624 Vs. DI-624).

Edit: This is the notice next to firmware v. 2.50

"If you have the VDI-624 (revC3), do NOT upgrade firmware. Contact your ISP for an upgrade."

Ok, I did find an updated firmware from Verizon themselves for the dlink router, But I am wondering if that firmware is compatible with the FiOS service or just the DSL service. One bad thing is they dont tell what it changes or updates. and which service it is for. I am thinking it should be for FiOS because they dont give out these routers to DSL subscribers they normally give out westell dsl modems.

Am I right on this?

I have fios and have NEVER used the router that they gave me.  I have my own d-link DI-524 wireless router and it has the latest firmware update and I get the full speed out of it.
