As some of you might know at Black Hat 2005 there was a presentation about a security flaw in the operating system of just about all Cisco routers.  What this would basically do would allow hackers to take over a router or put the router out of service.  Since the Internet is run on aprox. 60% Cisco equipment this could create a dooms day event.

If you have no idea what I am talking about here is a fairly good article of what happened: http://www.tomsnetworking.com/Sections-article131.php

Basically since the beginning of Security updates and Service Packs hackers have been targeting microsoft products and exposing hacks.  I am not sure if anyone who discovered a hack gave a presentation on it but my real question is do you think that Cisco/ISS over reacted to the evidence that there are problems with the Cisco OS?
