Nice speeds there tljbooth and welcome to the forum  :wave:

Those speeds are great. Anything over 1000 kbps is great. Anything more merely means you get a little extra boost when downloading larger files.  :icon_thumright:

Grab a sack of popcorn and enjoy the show. Come back often, I think comedy hour is next.  ;)

I have a quick question and then I will post my speed. What does the rate code on the advanced system control center page mean? Mine is 512k 4/5 (TC). Here are my speeds:

::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..::::::::::

Download Connection is:: 1588 Kbps about 1.59 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB)

Download Speed is:: 194 kB/s

It's your "turbo code" which basically defines how well your system will transmit.  Most DW7000+ users will see a rate code of 256k 2/3 (TC) and will see 175--200K uploads.  Many, like myself, will see 256k 4/5 (TC) which isn't much different than the 2/3 speed, but I've noticed that you get better consistency closer to the 200 mark.

You having the 2W transmitter and business plan get the 512K rate codes.  Some relate the rate code to actual speed of uploads.  Ex. 256K 4/5  means that you can get up to 4/5 of 256k, or around 200k.  That isn't necessarily true, but usually is the case.

In any case, if you have a rate code of 256K 1/2 or 128K */*, there is something wrong with your system, and performance will suffer.

Usually, the rate code is indicative of how well your systems is pointed, and the condition of your setup alltogether.

You can attempt to increase your rate code by "force ranging", which is a function on your advanced page.  if your system functions fine, I wouldn't do it, as you may end up with an undesired rate code.  If you do however, you can force range as many times as you like, so you can get it back up.

we have a DW6000 but are download speeds range from about 200 K to 750K, on the $59.95 a month plan

is the the next step up $70 a month any faster, the web pages shows "up to" 1MB

are the DW7000 any better?

Welcome to the forum  :wave::welcome:

Post a speed test with the 2992 file test. I believe I can get you a little faster. I am also on the 6000.  :grin2:

That's OK by me Tommie, I've noticed  slow down (in) myself the past several years.

:coffee:  helps

:lol: But I can not drink coffee regularly any more. The oil in it effects me badly. Even drank tea for a while. Finally had to dorp that even. Switched to pepsi for a while then. Presently I am able to drink about 2-3 Pepsi's a day alright. And I actually feel a bit better.  :grin2: (I know, like you wanted to hear all that)  :azn:

That and Coke I use to clean metal. Water,water, water, thats what works the best for me. Use enough to flush the oil out or don't use oily water to make your coffee, especially at your age.  :wink:
