Belkin today announced that it has enhanced the installation wizard of selected wireless routers to include simplified wireless security setup.

Belkin's next-generation "Easy Install Wizard" will include the "Strong Security Made Simple" setup feature, an easy-to-use interface for setting up wireless security on routers. The company said the new security feature is "standards-based", and supports the secure association of "any Wi-Fi certified wireless client".

The enhanced wizard also has a "Guest Access" feature to enable password-protected Internet-only connection for guest users. A separate local user password provides complete access to both the local LAN and Internet.

Belkin also announced a new client Wireless Networking Utility featuring an graphical user interface that provides a "visual representation" of network connections, and signal strength and security settings of in-range wireless routers and / or access points.

The enhancements will be available in the Belkin Wireless G line (Router -- F5D7230-4; Notebook Card -- F5D7010; Desktop Card -- F5D7000; USB Adapter -- F5D7050) by September 30 and its new Wireless G Plus line (Router F5D7231-4; Desktop Card -- F5D7001; Notebook Card -- F5D7011) by "early spring 2006".
