Find MTU & max latency with ping

My max mtu is 1472, I never tested it that way before, thanks, cholla.

Results:

C:Documents and Settings>ping testmy.net -f -l 1473

Pinging testmy.net [67.18.179.85] with 1473 bytes of data:

Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set.

Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set.

When you ping with your MTU that is your maximum latency at that time it will change if you do it to a differrrrent site or a different time of day .Not by a great deal.I'm not sure what you should ping with to get the latency for the calculater at cablenut.Van Buren would probably know this too.

The test is mostly to give you your max MTU the latency(RTT) is a secondary result.This would be the latency of all the hops added together at least that's what I think is correct.
