I hope this works it was take out of the October edition of Sync.

1. Go to: download.com and run a search for "HijackThis".  Download and install this free software.

2. Open the program and click the Scan buttion. Hijack This will create a log of suspicious files residing on your computer.  Don't delete them yet!

3. Copy the log and paste it into the form at: hjt.iamnotageek.com.  This  site notes the files that are condidates for extermination.

4. Select the items you'd like to remove.  Click the Fix Checked button.  Congrats.

Post your opinions and let others know if this works.

Thanks,

compuworm

sorry doesnt work with some of the worst malware I've experienced, best way is to make a ghost image and restore it when u need, easiest and fastest

True.  The baddest just reinstall on reboot........ thru a sub-process which don't even show in hijackthis.  Spent a month cleaning one machine where formatting was not an option.

Ghosting is always good both for potential hard disk failure and spyware.  A combination of hijackthis and anti-spyware scanning software (use several) is another good solution.  If you're not comfortable editing the registry, don't use hijackthis on your own. Just use it with one of the interpreters like the site you mentioned, compuworm.  :)
