MTU setting

Hey all i've been over at broadband reports trying to sort out my mtu setting with 1 of the guys there, i used drtcp and cablenut the guy did a good job with me but my mtu keeps resetting itself back to 1478 from 1500 and we don't know why i'm running on winxp sp2 all updated and my isp is cable my advertised speed is 2mb with ntl i don't know what version of the c/n settings i used (how do i take a snapshot of table) i'll post if needed my most recent test on this site was

Bottom Line:: 34X faster than 56K 1MB download in 4.36 sec

Diagnosis: Looks Great : 10.84 % faster than the average for host (ntl.com)

do any of you guys now what the prob could be with my mtu setting?

Check to see if you have any VPN software installed or VPN enabled somewhere, or if you used to have DSL make sure you completely uninstall that software.

Also look down through your Add/Remove programs and see if there is anything you don't use anymore that may modify your settings, and uninstall

Then use DrTcp and set MTU to 1500 Save/Exit/Restart PC.
