ROM-DOS :I did this test at a different NDT site because its the only one that gives results in Mb/s when the results are below 1 Mb/s.as you can see much slower than yours.

TCP/Web100 Network Configuration Tester v5.1.1

click START to begin

Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  Done

running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 0.12Mb/s

running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 0.11Mb/s

You are connected to a 100 Mbps Full-Duplex link

I don't know how to explain all the results in the NDT test.I use it mostly for a speed test.

The 2 results are upload & download speed.I use it for the RTT since my ISP blocks ping it

gives me an indication of latency.It also reports packet loss.

If you want to try what I beleive is the largest possible RWIN(for fun) At least I couldn't

get the analyzer test below to give me the unscaled Receive Window on anything larger.I

think in XP you need to change it in these 3 cablenut settings for it to work.

DefaultReceiveWindow =65781760

GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize=65781760

TcpWindowSize=65781760

https://www.speedguide.net/ TCPIP Analyzer

MTU = 1500

MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460

Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65781760

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 10 bits (scale factor of 20)

Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS

Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2631270.4 kbps (328908.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1052508.16 kbps (131563.52 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 55 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

      PCI SoftV92 Modem

with a Conexant Systems Driver

  ~ CXT ~ version 7.16.0.51

COM 4 ~ Port Speed 115200

No Extra initialization commands

          WindowsXp SP2

          AMD Athlon XP 2500+

          512 Ram

I switched from Modem Hardware compression(turned it off)

to Software compression(windowsXP automatically does this for you)

and went from around 20-30 % Hardware Comp.

to over 50% with Windows Software Comp.

the other thing I've noticed when downloading from

~ let's say ~ Microsoft - is my speed starts out at 160+Kbps

then slowly keeps dropping down to around 10-6Kbps.

how do you up-load a screen shot of Adjuster?    :book1:

Make sure that window is active (in front) then press Alt + Printscreen. Then open Paint, press Ctrl + V and Save As... a .jpg.

Note: Alt+ PrntScrn takes a screen shot of just the current window. To get the whole screen just press PrntScrn.

ROM-DOS: netmasta's Instructions are pretty good.My print screen button also has Sys Rq on it it is between F12 & scroll lock button.If Ctrl + V doesn't work for you  Left click on the white screen in paint then use edit & paste then save as .jpg.Save to MY Pictures. Then when you post at testmy select additional options at the bottom of the post screen then Browse to MY Pictures & click the screen shot then post.Paint is in StartPrograms Accessories

ROM-DOS : your speed still looks good there sure is a lot of difference in the 2 cablenut screen shots.Odd that you get good speed both ways.

yeah, I'm just afraid if I didn't use CableNut ~ my speeds wouldn't be so good ~ lol

maybe I'll clear my Adjuster Settings and reboot

and to see 'the difference'  - if any?

~ it would be funny if my 'Settings' didn't really make a difference ~ lol

~ I really think it has to do with all the Registry 'tweaks' I've done. ~

. . .but, I still think I have alot of unnesesary 'network' services running

      in the background?

It is amazing, though!  ~ ...everytime I disable something  ~ I think - is that the one that's

helping my speed ~ lol

My theory is that ~ Windows Explorer is just 'One' Window

with multible 'views' (and way too much crap)  ~ including IE ~ so what really matters

is how fast you can get your system  ~ running 'Windows'

...and that's alot of Registy tweaking and maintianing a clean 'system'

I use 'System Mechanic 5 Professonal' to clean, tweak and maintain

everything on my computer ~ it's absolutly the 'best' ~

and now to do that Defrag ~ I've been updating all my 'programs'

and general 'house cleaning'

just found my  'Cablenut Settings Definitions: text'

I'm gonna try adding one setting at a time and test

. . .I have a feeling that maybe only around 10 or so settings

    really have an impact on connection speed  :?:

ROM-DOS: I've never tried the Avant I read about it some probably a year ago.I already have IE of course & Fire Fox so I haven't decided to add another browser to my OS but if that iss  the reason for your speed I would try it.What happens if you test with IE?
