We've discussed this before .Every connection is bandwidth.Dial up is part of that.Personally I prefer to post what ever I need to in the forum without being seperated into a dial -up category.

If I need help with something I think it will get more response that way.

Dude its testmy.net broadband commuinity not dial-up community.  :biggun:

this IS a broadband community...but i'm finding that many of our most respected long standing members have dial up...this being a "broadband community" doesn't and shouldn't eliminate them from coming here and testing and participating in the forum,,,and they too have ways of adjusting their settings to speed up their connection.

at any moment anyone of us "broadband users" could lose our "broadband connection" and have to dig into our program files and dig out that old version of juno or netzero...and use it for a bit...wouldn't be nice to have a place to go to discuss settings?

all i'm saying is broadband community doesn't mean broadband snobs...geeze check it out we have a dway section...and it's practically dialup...right? :haha:

hyperspace...er i mean rom-dos is just asking for a forum to discuss his type of connection...

ROM-DOS, You're saying anytime you wanted you could test your line and you'd have what you've claimed your avarage to be?

. . .or better

Ok, mabey im slipping out of the whole "techy loop" but 56k means just that.... a max of 56kbs... no? so how do you get " 538 kbs"  ???  Mabey with al the tweaking you've done some cache'in is being recieved here? Because dialup is just that in my opinion..  5 6 k

My guess is that these super small file sizes your i just ...burst. yea...dialup burst is funny sounding, but aparently possible. Try using a larger test file..

ROM-DOS: I'll get you a screenshot of the type DL I think some want to see.I think any dl will work as long as its not small.you don't even need to complete it.I use a software program Called MyVitalAgent to moniter my speed also It doesn't list XP as an OS spec the latest it lists is NT.But I have read some user comments that it will work in XP.If your interested. Here is a screen shot of a MS DL & MyVitalAgent.Let it DL for a little while to get past the burst the one I used was about 10Mb when you get the screen shot you can cancel the DL.I went to Microsoft  downloads the DL I used was for an intelepoint mouse.

ROM-DOS : You need a larger DL that one was 1.41MB it DLed in 1 second. So you need one a lot larger.Because I think it will show your speed at more than 1.41MB/sec.A lot faster than mine at 4.54kB/sec.

1.41MB/s = 1440.43kB/s which is 317 times faster than 4.54kB/s.
