My modem is not uncapped so I'm not doing anything illegal, and terayon modem has a restricted cap at 4mb, getting another modem is a good idea for the future if they decide to upgrade the packages as i've heard they bought more bandwidth and will start offering more bandwidth in the future.

Yes but the capping its done in the config file they sent when connecting. No t the modem itself.

exactly. which is why i was wondering about the >4mbit speed on that test. it wouldn't surprise me if they had different config files for different modems... or didn't think anyone would use a different modem than what they send out with the installer... or any of a number of possible reasons why.

do you have any packet loss? the motorola 5120 is notorious for having packetloss in onelink's network.  Personally i'm using a linksys modem which I bought today and will be testing for the next 24 hours to see if it's worth replacing the terayong.

well so far so good, it's more or less on par with my old terayon.  However for some reason my area cannot get more than 600k on speed tests.  If I don't use a download accelerator the max speed I get is 75k.  This is the symptoms I had with the terayon and now the linksys so this must be a node related issue.

This is my connection 24/7. The modem change did improve latency, it does not fluctuate as much and battlefield 2 remains always in the same 55ms ping and does not fluctuate much this could be a backbone issue as well.

The Cover-Up

Since Centennial started their promo on TV for their  Instant Internet service with 2.4 Mbps, OneLink PR stopped  their illegal practices against  their customers. But not at all ,because they began using a new technique.

Now we have a  2.8 Mbps almost anytime.

In order to get more money from their customers they decide to increase the price for their premium channels. So if you have a 4 premium pack in order to get a discount on your PowerLink price this is just an illusion. We should call it The 4  Pack Trap The reality is that they are increasing their PowerLink price. This is an indirect way to increase a product price thinking that their customers will not notice their real intentions.

I recall when they call me by phone in a desperate way the same day the new prices started -April 1(evening). When a serious company is making plans for an change in prices they notify their customers 1-3 months before the changes takes on effect. Immediately this lead me to think that they are having problems and their first quarter revenues report for this year is not well, that's why they call everyone in such a desperate way.

This is the typical case of company that arrive to Puerto Rico and start doing strange things to make more money in the fastest way possible.

They are still limiting bandwidth in many ways.Their promos still said -almost 71 times faster than dial-up (4 Mbps). Maybe they have some fear about saying 4Mbps directly. The word almost give them some sense of legal security on their cover up.

What about their P2P limitations? Their worst reality. If they do not correct this problem soon they will continue losing market. The P2P softwares are here to stay and the main reason for everyone to use broadband.

Because I know they read this forum.

For OneLink Digital: Don't try to surf against the waves.

-Use a little wisdom and logic to make money-

If Centennial is not limiting P2P, this would be the best choice in the coming months.

If you have any comments about Centennial Instant Internet please let us know.

See, new modem or not that is my best speed.

trust me the speeds are the same on a formatted PC or not, in fact I connect my mac directly to the network and that's the most speed I get.  I already tried network card, cable modem, computer, I even test my work laptop to see if it has the same speed issues and yes.  I'm calling them again now to re-activate my old terayon modem and taking back the linksys for my money back.  It does work and latencies seem pretty stable but now i'm 100% sure it's not my computer or equipment.

And I cannot use cablenut because my speeds fluctuate too much.
