the connection atm isn't stable enough to tweak. if i change settings and things slow down how am i to know if it's the settings or onelink causing the problem. as for max speed, i got some tests in the 4200 and 4400 range today. checked the modem and saw that the down cap had been raised from 4000000 to 4400000. too bad they didn't put that extra bandwidth in upload instead...  :D

Well my connection is now 100% fully fixed.  The issue was a tweak somewhere deep within the registry.  I managed to backtrack it to a change made by autopatcher under the tweaks section.  After reseting all tweaks done and all the TCP/IP stack my speeds are perfect.

Bottom Line:: 45X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 3.26 sec

Tested from a 20972 kB file and took 66.697 seconds to complete

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/418 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/417.9.2

So if you have let autopatcher tweak your connection, beware.  I also returned the 5120 modem to compusa and bought the 5101 at the onelink offices (significantly cheaper at 54.99 over 79.99 at compusa)
