Strange Settings for on-line gaming

ROM-DOS

Recommended Posts

As some of you may know ~ I'm using Dial-Up to connect and trying to 'optimize' my CableNut settings for on-line gaming. I've recently discovered I can play in large servers(with 64 players) and still stay connected(WOO HOO).

(see NewSettings1.JPG for settings)

So, the question is ~ "can someone help me understand these setting;"

it's quite a bit of data you're sending on just yourself actually. think about it. position, vector, heading, sounds made, current body posture (the more complex the model the more data that is), equipment worn/used and whatever else i forgot. then youi have the general traffic of the projectiles in flight, shockwaves, explosions (all these for sound lighting collison detection) and god knows what else. all updated fairly frequently.
