You may want to consider reinstalling your video card drivers to see if this brings them back.

Edit:  Also, you can try this

Look for restore All Display Tabs on the page (I've never used this.....)

I got this link from here:  http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/134887.html  (half way down the page, message from tufenuf)

Excerpt from link:

"Matt, Another fix for your problem is to go to the link below and scroll down to line 285 right column and download & run the "Restore All Display Tabs" .reg file fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt."

Good luck :)

untitled.bmp

isnt their supposed to be a "bar" up there to switch between the theme, resolution, and so on.....

now there is now way i can change the default color from blue to silver :whaa:

Yes, you go to the appearance tab under your display proper.....................wait, never mind :haha:

When you are able to get to your appearance tab under the display properties, that is where you can change the default colors.

Strange problem-

Well lets see' how long did this problem started? check your restore checkpoints and if you find a checkpoint that dates before the problem occurred then just do a restore operation and the problem should be fixed' scan again for infections and ur all set...... if you can't find a restore checkpoint use the registry mechanic.

Go to the following reg keys and export them to a safe place (backup):

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesActiveDesktop]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionThemeManager]

After that, download the following attached registry file. Unzip and run it.

This should solve your problems. :)

If not, restore the backups. :)
