What does May need help : running at only 65.87 % of your hosts average (verizon.net) mean?

Does this mean I should be getting better results? If so how come I am not? I use Norton Internet Security 2003. So I am pretty sure I  have no viruses. I have spybot destroyer. I always turn norton off when i take speed tests, so what's the problem?

Well, I'm no expert...didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

But, you really don't have much of a problem at all. If you're anywhere within 80-90% of your "package" speed rating, you're doing fine. The 3Mbps is the line cap speed, and a few factors such as protocol overhead and some other things take up some of that speed. So, your posted test of 2821 is right in there.

The about "May need help" part is a bit misleading for you. Verizon is now selling FiberOptic service to residential customers, so your speed is thrown-in and compared with those who have 10Mbps packages and such, so you can see why a 3Mbps connection would fall into a lower range compared to the top packages. Again, no problem.

My advice? Have fun with it!!!  ;)

DeadlyTiger ..at this time ...the data base has no way of knowing what package you have....it only recognizes that it's a verizon IP address...so mattmag is correct..all verizon even the 15 meg stuff gets averaged in...sorry but that's how the math breaks it down.. ;)

And welcome to the forum.... :D

DeadlyTiger; Take mine with dial-up for example this is good speed for dial-up but only 4.11% of my hosts average. My host also has several types of DSL connections I know so these are averaged in too.
