These are my results from Speednet.com

How do I know if I am using PPoE DSL broadband or not.  I know that I have DSL (verizon), but any advise would be great.

MTU = 1492

MTU is optimized for PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

MSS = 1452

MSS is optimized for PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for maximum throughput.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 624640

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 4 bits (scale factor of 8)

Unscaled Receive Window = 39040

For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.

Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

63888 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 24985.6 kbps (3123.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 9994.24 kbps (1249.28 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 55 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

Van Buren,

I did all of that before. Thanks.

I used Cablenut, and even EventID (I currently have maximum concurrent half-open connections at 25. I will lowering my rwin to 127776 but I can never seem to raise my mtu to 1500.  How do I know what I am using to connect to the internet (PPPoe, modem)?

I will let you know the new totals in a minute.

Also, back to my other question, how do I know what I am using to connect to the internet (PPPoe, modem, etc.) and what are the best settings for....whatever I am using.  So frustrating.

As a side note, by the way, Van Buren is like a guru from what I have read and I thank you all in advance.
