hi anyone help!! is my speed ok for the isp server im useing , telewest broadband i think my advertised speed is 256kbs im on 2 meg

any help would be grateful im bloody useless at this crap , just want to know if my speeds are ok. and a dont want vanburen telling me to go here and there did all tht,cant seem to get any higher than these,and does anyone know wot a attenuator is , i got digital tv in and the cable guy put this on my surfband4100 he said tht my signal from outside the house ie. comeing from cable box outside in street was to high and this will lower it????????? yes am a newbe at this but ave being doing this for days now!! trying to get higher speeds
