if you can get it to work, sure.

if not, and if ytou rent it, your isp should have a more current model.

and the thing seems to have some nice features, looks kinda neat, and that wave stuff is something i havent seen anywhere else. so if you can get it to work, fine. if not, see if you can get a free replacement. if not, then ask which models the isp recommends from their experience and ask for opinions on those here.

5. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.  You most likely only need "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)."  If you share files on your home network, you also need "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks."

I went back through all of the sticky, and i found a "QoS Packet Scheduler". It reccomended uninstalling ones i dont use, and I'm not sure what that is.

Thanks

Well, the new modem came, and my computer upstairs got to about 90% of the speed it should be so thats good, but on this computer I get these speeds:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 2315 Kbps about 2.3 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB)

Download Speed is:: 283 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2)

Test Time:: Sat Jan 07 2006 23:05:53 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time)

Bottom Line:: 41X faster than 56K 1MB download in 3.62 sec

Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 48.96 % of your hosts average (comcast.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-SOH307XNL

I was thinking that maybe I don't have the cords plugged into their correct spots on the router. There is a WAN connection port and I'm not sure what it is/ what its purpose is. Also, I have a PS2 Online cord in the router, does that decrease the speed? I'm running out of things to check. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, I've tweaked the slow one, ( not the fast one ) It's virus/spyware free, I haven't tried connecting just one to the router, but I'll try that next... Here is the speed test from the slow one connected directly to the modem:

Test Time:: Sun Jan 08 2006 17:38:49 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time)

Bottom Line:: 40X faster than 56K 1MB download in 3.74 sec

Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 47.52 % of your hosts average (comcast.net)

Do you think it's something with the slow computer, because it starts of fast ( so i get the 12160 file )but then it slows down?
