Need help!

I'm new to this forum and dont know a whole lot about modems and stuff.  I was wonderin how to make my connection faster?

OS: Windows XP sp2

I have verizon dsl and the modem is a westell 2200.

And i am using a router a linksys WRT54GS

Test results:

Connection is:: 726 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 748 kB)

Download Speed is:: 89 kB/s

Test Time:: Wed Dec 14 16:01:41 EST 2005

Bottom Line:: 13X faster than 56K 1MB download in 11.51 sec

Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 16.3 % of your hosts average (verizon.net)

If your actual speeds are way lower than your advertised ones, you could download Cablenut from http://www.cablenut.com and Van Buren's v2 settings from here - https://testmy.net/topic-1013 and try TCP Optimizer as well. Choose the best of Van Buren's settings that fits your connection type and MSS value which you can figure out by visiting the TCP Analyzer website here - https://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php . Also make sure you have a virus and spyware free pc as those nasties can slow down your connection too. Hope this helps ;)
