    Uncapping a modem is tampering with your ISP's config file. When you connect your modem to the network, it downloads a special config file to the modem. The file contains IP address info, your authorized (paying for) speeds and a few other settings. Uncapping lets you use your modem at up to it's maximum speeds. It does not do any good, because it is illegal, and people who do it do eventually get caught.

    Alright, a man on the ball here, thanks for the info. I will NOT be uncapping my modem anytime soon. D/Lng protected files is thrilling enough!!!

    What is your advertise speeds?

    My what? If you're asking what I think, my d/l speed can be very low. But that shouldn't surprise any of us, right? Now for an example of what I think is "good speed".  I d/l torrent files from time-to-time. If I manage to "track", or d/l a file that is being used and shared by, say, 250 users or so, my d'l speed has been as high as 850 kb/s. This is true d/l speed. Given my past experience in this, 300-500 kb/s is more then acceptable.
