  1. I have huge problem I left my house for a week ( summer vacation ) and my cousin suppose to look after it . He has 16 year old son whom I granted permission to use my pc while I'm gone and when I got back my PC had so much spyware and adware and god only knows what else that it took me a while to get rid of most of it ... at the same time there is this one thing I can't get rid off for the life of it . From what I gathered it's some kind of spyware called Pest Trap . I ran spybot search and destroy as well as ADaware but they seem to detect the problem ( i click fix the problem option ) but the problem shows up again after I restart my PC .

    Here is my HijackThis log ( maybe that will help ) :

  2. Ok so I bought Belkin 4 port Cable / DSL Gateway Router Model# F5D5231-4

    And I noticed that my bittorent speed went down badly ... I used to get 120kB/sec ( or more ) and now if I get 8kB/sec it's like top speed  :cry:

    I heard people saying something about port forwarding and disabling my firewall but I have no idea how to do it or even where to start ... if anybody could help me I would appreciate that .

    Sincerely Michal K

    Oh yeah my operating system is windows XP Media Center Edition

  3. Hey all I'm kinda new to the forums ( lol my first post ) but I was wondering if any of you guys can help me a bit :)

    I'm running Windows XP Media Edition ( no SP2 )

    My Computer specs are as follow :

    Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz

    512 Ram ( two 256 )

    256 ATI radeon 3D card

    My Modem type is speedstream 5360 Ethernet ADSL modem

    Anyways long story short recently I moved to a new place and I decided to move my dsl service to the new place as well everything seemed to be fine but recently I'm experiencing major slow downs in performance , for example yahoo.com will take around 1-2 minutes to load which never happend before  :whaa:

    I ran some tests on my dsl and here are the results

    :::.. Download Stats ..:::

    Connection is:: 431 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 579 kB)

    Download Speed is:: 53 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2)

    Test Time:: Mon Sep 12 08:32:28 PDT 2005

    Bottom Line:: 8X faster than 56K 1MB download in 19.32 sec

    Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 23.93 % of your hosts average (pacbell.net)

    Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-06OHV5CFK

    :::.. Upload Stats ..:::

    Connection is:: 224 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 97 kB)

    Upload Speed is:: 27 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2)

    Test Time:: Mon Sep 12 08:34:10 PDT 2005

    Bottom Line:: 4X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 37.93 sec

    Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 84.53 % of your hosts average (pacbell.net)

    Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-K47UGJZOD

    I did run Adaware and spybot S&D as well as Norton ANtyvirus to check for any possible spyware / viruses and after scan I deleted all of them ( there was like 3 or 4 )

    Also I believe I have to mention that while wiring my computer to the phone outlet I ran out of cable so I took this kinda extension and hooked the end of the cable to it to make the overall cable length longer ... I dunno if that might be the issue ? shall I use just one cable to connect my dsl modem with the phone outlet ?

    Also I called SBC on severall occasions and all I got was delete you cookies and offline content or power cycle your modem I did all that and it migth have helped for like 2 minutes after which my speed went down again .

    Any help / suggestions you guys migth have would be greatly appreciated :)

    Thank you keldron
