hey uhh i no wireless slows connection but how bad can it slow over 20 ft differnce?
Acually I've been testing these speeds on my laptop, which happens to be only about 3 or 4 feet away from the router. Destop gets the almost the same speed and it's wired

Try testing your speeds without your router. Sometimes the router can cause problems.
I've gotten better speeds without the router... in the 4 and 5mb ranges. But I need the router because I have 2 PC's and 1 Laptop on wireless.

Hey, I'm a little new to this forum, and just thought I might give it a shot with my little problem.
Modem: Motorola Surfboard SB5101 (Comcast Modem)
Wireless Router: Netgear RangeMax (WPN824)
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
Firewall: Router Firewall & Zone Alarm Pro.. Win Firewall is off
I just got Comcast incredible 8MB/786KB internet speed. Since I installed my modem with my router, I've always been getting internet speed around 500KB/1MB/2MB. I called in Comcast and they said the same exact thing I expected (No help on the router, connect modem to PC). I have tried to use my PC MAC address, but that didn't seem to help at all with my internet speed.
The second time I called Comcast they said that I probably had bad cables, and they were sending out someone to check the cables since Friday. (No improvement since then)
I've also been reading some on this forum about Comcast and other routers having their issues just exactly like mine, but most of them have been resolved. My last option is upgrading to the Motorola Surfboard SB5120, which I've read increased the bandwidth to what it should be.
I have also tried to turn the DHCP server off. But as I thought that didn't help, and restarted my router and modem to many times to count.
Router Settings:
Account Name: Empty
Domain Name: Empty
Internet IP Address: Get Dynamically from ISP
Domain Name Server (DNS) Address: Get Automatically from ISP
Router MAC Address: Use This MAC Address (MAC Address is the PC MAC Address)
DHCP Server: On
