I'm on Comcast in South Florida. After Hurricane Wilma came through we had power surging and line issues. They replaced the drop and I was able to connect. However, the best my 8Mbps connection was getting was 2.3Mbps on the download. After going through the standard crap of speaking with a member of tech support who knew less than me, I got my service call.
The tech did the tech thing. Eventually, he finally replaced the modem. (My tweaks were in place before the modem swap.) With the new modem I'm "Pedal to the metal"!
