ha ha i had bigger increase and upload faster i have same plan 4/512  i was getting 3.6 now i get 4.1

well thats good considering i Run a 100 Foot Cable from the service entrance to the room, then from teh room jack to a 3 ways splitter then to the modem, and digital Cable comes thru the same line so...

inm still runiong 4Mbps Down 512 Up, they are upgrading now though, i might need a tweak the settings though

My Upload and Download have Slowed Down about 30%

Gonna Check Wiring and Splitters AS Soon As its Light Out... I think the COX Splitter was already looking Rusted Out a year and a half ago, which would explain the steady decrease in upload since i got cox in 2001, from 100+kb/sec -> 25 Kb/sec, even if the speed isnt increased, stuff like signin in to xbox live are slow as dirt for me.

heya all, i have Cox.net in hamton roads also (virginia beach)

just upgrade to fastisbeautiful, extra 15 bucks a month but since im an xbox live gamer, thought it would be worth it.

BUT problems have arisen in the past few days.

as of right now i get 10KB/s download and 6 KB/s upload on a consistent basis, its rediculous

i am supposed to be getting what dude up there is getting.

Ive tried everything, eliminating every problem on my end. Cox tech guy is coming this saturday to check everything out. But since i upgraded, nothing but problems.

Could it be the modem? Its a 4 year old General instruments surfboard sb3100

oh well, guess i'll find out saturday.

(sometimes in off peak times i get as high as 144KB/s down and 60KB/s up, which is still far less download than what i used to get, and less upload than what im paying for)

Lately the Connection has Been Laggin Around..

and the Digital Cable sometimes isnt even Watchable..

I think a pole or Amp/Relay is downsomewhere.. i know someone else at the arcade at lynhaven mall was complaingin and several parents on my lil bro's marching band staff said its been wierd the last week or so..

I noticed 2 years ago when i replaced the sb3100 cox was charging me to use .. and i noticed and extreeme spped up in LAN gaming and Sending and Receiveng Large Files at the same time...

As For WIndows XP,

from My Problems I Just Now Fixed On My XP System..

XP Doesnt Like ATA-100 Or Above, So You'd Have to Make Sure The Harddisks are Running IN the Correct Modes..

I Found out last nite That My Primary 80 GB Ata-100 Disk was Locked At PIO MODE because XP Didnt Recognize it... I QUick install of the VIa IDE MiniPort Tool thingy Fixed it..

Also... Athlon 64's Are Supposed to Run With Windows XP 64-Bit????

But Yeah.. its prolly left over Drivers Slowing something Down..

Im Running "EXTREME" Settings Under the TCO Optimizer, But I Think I can Tweak Some More Out Of It... Too Bad I Think they Capped My Upload At 30kb/sec Because other people that use cox that i know get the same upload speed.... it used to be 100+kb/sec though..
