First of all thanks for the QUICK replies!!! Modern computer?? LOL Well if you consider a PIII running at 866MHz and 512 megs of ram a modern computer......LOL I do run a minimum of extentions in FF, image zoom, ad block plus, download status bar and IE view.
I plan to update the mobo, processor and ram shortly but can't see where it's going to make a huge difference on my page loading. I agree that the pluses of FireFox far out weight the system EMBEDDED down sides of IE. I have not had a single issue with the typical browser hijackings and such that I consider plague IE. Again thanks for your help, and I'll give the tweaks a try. What an awesome website you have and I have to say that the download speed test are the most accurate on the internet by FAR!!!

Can someone please tell me why my download speeds are so much slower with FireFox versus IE6 I se a 10%+ speed increase with IE. Any ideas on how to speed up FireFox?

I have a HP cordless rechargable mouse. And yes, I am running there drivers. Dang could this be part of a monolithic piece of software that they can't seem to live without??? Hmm kinda makes me think of himem.sys. Thanks again for the quick reply!

I have this running in taskmanager and cannot find out what the heck it is. I woould appriciate the help. Also in my registery I have duplicate entries that end in *.1 What would cause the duplicates and how do you clean them??? Regisrty Mechanic goes right by them like they aren't there!

You are so correct. There are no perfect settings, I went back to the VB 6000 Ver 9 file and one tweak to firefox. Man what a difference.

Dam if I can only remember what Van Buren settings I had used I would go back to them. Crap should have left well enough alone!!! I know it's not bad but I have seen it do better. I have a sneaky suspiscion the computer geek in my nieghborhood is running a server. I'll confront the wanna be today to see if thats what he is doing
