  5. I have Insight 10/1mbs broadband, and get advertised speeds during the day,

but at peak times.. it slows by 75%.

Insight says my connection is fine, after spending the usual 30-mins on the phone with them blaming the router.

Anyone having similar problems? and how did you get them to correct it?

I get great speeds during the day, but at around 6PM to MIDNIGHT, everything slows to a crawl, lag, poor download speeds.

It is really frustrating when I need to use it the most.

I TOO go thru sprintlink.net where the ping times and packet loss is huge.  Am I wasting my time with Insightbb tech support, so far I feel

    that I am.

    Traceroute during the day:

Ping times and % loss go way up on some of the sprintlink.net and twtelecom.net hops.

Funny thing is that If I do a speedtest here http://www.speedtest.net/index.php and go thru Kansas City, MO instead of CHI, I get Normal speeds

    even in the evening.

  7. I always used Cablenut. Thought I would try TCP Optimizer and I started getting speeds like you. The test ran a lot smoother I admit but I lost speed so I went back to Cablenut and my speeds returned. Where are you located? I'm in Northern Kentucky.Edit: Are you still using a router?

I am in Illinois, and am using a Netgear wireless router.  I have been using TCP optimizer from the get go.  I tried cablenut, but didn't have much luck.  Weird thing is, when I moved the slider on TCP to 10000, my speeds went down.  I put slider back to 4500 (original insight speeds), and I am getting near the 10/1 speeds.  Increased upload speeds made a huge difference in my remote slingbox viewing, as well as my webcam teleconferencing.  Wow, insight finally did something right. :smitten:

Thanks, a little better this morning.. my connection has always slowed15-20% in the evenings.

    This morning:

    Last Result:

Upload Speed: 919 kbps (114.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

  9. If you are a newbit to tweaking, Download and run TCP Optimizer.

Move the slider over to 8500, click optimal settings lower right hand corner, click apply changes,  notice if the old value new value changes, then click ok to apply changes and reboot.

  10. Didn't know about it til I read the SJ-R this morning.

Ran a speed test this evening,  was getting 4700Kbs and 384

Can't wait to see how much slingbox picture will improve with 800K up.

  11. I have a strange problem.. those speedtest were with my router inline.

If hook cable modem directly to desktop, I have no problem.  I have tried a different router, cables etc. to no avail.  Last night speeds were find again thru router after midnight, but problem back again this morning.

I use crap cleaner, adaware, everything religiously.. I have no viruses or spyware.  I used to be able to run a tracert, not it times out.., but connection running at 3700K on all speed tests, until this morning again.

It is a mystery.  I have done a google search and a few people have experienced the same problem, but have not found a solution.

I guess I will call Insight tonight if I am still having speed problem to see if there is some type of power fluctuation.  Of course they just have you hook up modem directly to pc and of course everything is fine then.

  12. I have an up to 4000K insight cable connection thru a netgear wgr614 wireless router.

I used to get the similar speeds on most speed tests, with best speeds from testmy.net,,

I now get a big variance depending on where I test.

Now I cant pull over 3.8 mb although sicne the switch the internet is so much more reliable. I just want my 4.5 Mbps back that I used to have. I

Have you used TCP optimizer?.  Download it, set it for 4500K, ( be sure to select the ethernet port that your modem is connected from the dropdown and reboot.  I was in the same boat til I used the program, and now I am consistently around 400-4500K 575kbs and avg 15-20% than avg insightbb customer.
