"Then if you both would post a 2992 file test http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php where it says "Largest - 2992 kB" and post your scores. Then we will work on tweaking your connection. "
See the post immediately above yours for my 2992KB test.
I still have a question about which tests to believe - testmy.net or speakeasy. Can anyone enlighten me?
P.S. The first two back to back tests on speakeasy this morning were:
1355/778 and 1470/595

panchovilla you need to be using a larger test file. try this one, but clear your cache before you test.
Here are the results of the 2992 test, followed immediately by a speakeasy test of 425/471. This was after clearing everything.

Thanks, I'll try it now.

I don't yet know how to post tests like those I've seen here. But here are 3 back to back tests I performed just now, all on the speakeasy LA, California site.
1343/727
1020/480
1046/570

tommie gorman, thanks for the "welcome". I used the DirecPC/Direcway/HughesNet dial return system for 9 years and had some crazy "bursts", but not like the ones I mentioned. As a matter of fact it got to the point that anything above 300 down could be considered a "burst". So far I'm quite pleased with the new system, once the faulty transmitter was replaced. My first speed test this morning was 1560/670.

Of course I believe those... I've also got a million dollars in cash coming tomorrow
(hopefully that was obvious enough sarcasm)
If that speed was real DWay would probably charge you 600 a month for it
(and yes, I saw your Brooklyn bridge comment)
Well, I've had my HN7000 system since 8/3/06, I'm on the Home Pro plan. The transmitter had to be replaced on 8/23/06. Once replaced I went to Speakeasy to see what I was getting - It was a weird result with two back to back tests. The first was 5575 down and 857 up, the second was 6263 down and 901 up. Never happened before and hasn't happened since.

How about when your speeds are all over the map. The following is from the hughes site. You'll see that every day I've tested there are two tests back to back. These are from two different desktops using a router - each test is done with the other computer disconnected from the router.. Both machines are "tweaked" and have achieved speeds well above the 1000/200 maximum. advertised and paid for. I am not a novice at this and I have used the dial return system since 1997 until I acquired the HN7000S. Both computers are Acer Power, 3.06 Ghz Pentium 4, 1 Gig Ram.

I think I'm about ready to call tech support and see if I can achieve a little consistency - is it worth the effort?
