  1. Using the swedish test I got results as follows:

    With 5000 file: TCP up 764 kbps and UDP up 791 kbps

    TCP down 6.33 Mbps and UDP down 6.59 Mbps

    With 8000 file: TPC up 765 kbps and UDP up 791 kbps

    TCP down 6.38 Mbps and UDP down 6.59 Mbps

    That

  2. I have done all you requested and am back to default. NIC setting was already 100 Bbps full duplex.

    Speeds with default settings: adslguide.org.uk tested download 609 and 403 (30 minutes later) and upload 285 both times. cemp1.switch.ch tested 1240 and 788 download and upload to 760 both times. As information they suggested a receive buffer of ca. 41.2 kbytes (330kbps) in the first test and ca. 525 kbps in the second.

  3. Here is the dsl tweak test. I have done it before without troubles, now it does not report any rcvWindow etc.

    I did the same with speedguide:

    SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

    TCP properties for IP = 80.223.236.110 ()

    Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

    Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

    TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402

    MTU = 1500

    MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

    MSS = 1460

    Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

    Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960

    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)

    Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

    RWIN is a multiple of MSS

    Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

    513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

    128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

    64240 (MSS x 44)

  4. The computer specs are as follows (unfortunately in Finnish language) but you may understand the main points: Win XL home + SP2, Processor 3.2 MHz, Memory 1 G, harddisk 300 G. I have 4 icons visible on the right hand side: network status indicator, Open Office quick start icon, Virus control, Windows messinger.

  5. Thank you for the advices. I tried them but unfortunately with any success. I think I will be able to improve the speed experimenting with different tweaks but the real problem is that whatever the initial speed is, it goes down dramatically during the Internet session every time! It is even difficult to use the mouse because the arrow hardly is moving.

    After rebooting everything is initially ok until the same is happening. I have run anti-spy and virus programs and found no problems.

    Would this sound familiar to somebody please give a hint!
