I also have had problems with comcast after they raised ther speeds. I can fix mine by putting in the Router CD and thn setting it up to get the settings from the modem directly then it sets up your router for you. I notice my speeds usaully slow down aftr they send new info to my modem then reset it.

wELL i MADE ONE FOR 3600,384, 70MS. Is that what I need if its the modem limiting me?

OK with that i am getting about 3mbps. Ill set my setting to 3.5mbps because I just remembered I think my modem is too slow to handle 4mbps Its the RCA DCM 245. The highest I have reached is 3.5mbps so far so should I make my settings to 3500kbps instead of 4000 then?

Ya i was downloading a huge game... It was going 360 or so then I started the pgrogram and it droppped to like 120... I dont know if I should try to find a better host for a faster transfer then or if the program took up bandwidth.

If you are getting really slow speeds it could be because of your router... That was my problem. My router was changing my ip and some other stuff I guess, but then I ran the cd and it took the settings from the modem and now im running fine

It seems like the cable fast settings they have arent set for speeds like mine, more around 1.5mb I think... Any files I should use?

OK I found out the problem. I think something got messed up when they did the speed upgrade. But I configured my router by getting the modem settings first so now it works, but one of my wireless NA doesnt work now!

Thanks for all you help, I got it fixed. I had to run the installation cd of the new one and get som settings from my cable modem and then put them into my router or something. Now im getting 3.5mbps

No ive switched out all my cables, What I think it is is that COmcast maybe changed some settings so that I have to reconfigure my router to work with them, maybe a static ip? would that slow it down or osmething? Because it seems like when they had the speed upgrades thats when my internet slowed

i had the latest firmware, I just went out and bought a new router but its still going 300Kbps. My new one has the latest firmware also! What else can it be!

OK Ive been donloading really slow lately and I tink its ebcause of my router and I guess packet losses. I had my cable modem on top of my router hich may of caused it to over heat a bit... But now when I go through the router I get about 150-600kbps. I have 4mb cable and can get 3.5mb going through the modem directly. Do you think that it has to be my router nd should I go get a new one. I have a linksys but I think if I get one I am just going to get the same one do Idont need to buy new NA also. Is there a way to fix my speeds maybe. I tried forwarding all the ports but that didnt work

now after putting it back into my modem my ip is back to what it used to be and Im getting the same slow speeds -
ok I called comcast, and while on the phone my ip changed and now im going 3.6 mbps! It might have been trouble with them upgrading the speeds. Im gunna try putting my router in to see if that was the issue because right now im directly connected

Average Packet Loss?

Whats is a good test for measuring packet loss and what is the average? Ive tried the dslreports test and got 2% loss on two of the connections. Then I started to suffer from major packet loss and Im not sure if its been fixxed after Comcast changed. So I was windering if they fixxed it when it came (I could barely get onto the internet at all before)
