  1. I do use Kazaa but I only have it running when I'm downloading something. Last night I noticed my modem was pretty warm to the touch and I had had some CD's sitting on it over the vent holes so I left it unplugged all night to cool off and my speeds this morning are

    :::.. Download Stats ..:::

    Connection is:: 3771 Kbps about 3.8 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

    Download Speed is:: 460 kB/s

    Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

    Test Time:: Wed Mar 23 2005 09:11:50 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time)

    Bottom Line:: 67X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.23 sec

    Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 23.44 % faster than the average for host (insightBB.com)

    I have no idea if that could have been causing the slowdown and like I said, the speeds are fluctuating. I'm hoping these speeds will stay consistent but it may slow down again by this afternoon. If you guys have any other tips I would appreciate it.

  2. I tried using cablenut with Vanburens cablenut setting ver 6:10mbs_fullduplex but I couldnt really notice any difference. Not sure what TCIP is/

  3. I've ran adaware, spybot, ccleaner, etc. I've just downloaded all updates for Windows and I've tried restarting the modem/computer a few times now. It seems my speed has been dropping a lot the last few days or so and I'm not really sure why.  Earlier my speed was very low then an hour later it was excellent now it's low again.

      I'm thinking this could possibly be a probelm with my isp (insightbb.com) since it just started happening a few days ago but I hoped you guys could take a look and give me some advice.

  4. It didnt think it would be this simple but after reading VanBurens guide I ran adaware, CCleaner , and SPybot. Just by doing that my speed has gone from 20% of my ISP's average to 120% of my ISP's average. Just have to say thanks for VanBuren for helping me realize that spyware can put a huge damper on your download speeds..
