  1. Just wanted to let you know, the internet completely died not too long after I posted that message.  Called Comcast the next day.  They got a technician out earlier today and it turns out that the modem they gave me was faulty.  They swapped it out with a new one and everything is back in tip-top shape.

    Thanks for the reply's though, I really do appreciate it.

    And in case you were wondering:

  2. So I have the 6mb connection with Comcast and in the last 2 to 3 days the internet became very slow.  That eventually led me here where what I found astounded me.  Speeds similar to this:

    Download Speed is:: 19 kB/s

    Tested from a 512 kB file and took 27.027 seconds to complete

    Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 2.48 % of your hosts average (comcast.net)

    I contacted Comcast through there online chat where they proceeded to reset the modem on their end, then had me turn off my computer and reset my modem.  After I did all that, what I found was that my internet no longer worked at all for the past 5 hours.  I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work, when randomly it started working again, but still at these horrendously slow speeds.

    So, I ask, any ideas what could be the problem?  For the record, I did a bunch of virus, adware, etc. scans and cleaned my computer as well as cleaned my registry.  I'm gonna give them a call some time tomorrow, assuming it doesn't get fixed by then.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
