I suppose the only good thing about the new wildblue fap is you actually are not limited for the rest of the month if you do go over. I still think it's much better than Dway's 400mb over a few hours policy that they have. I'm still able to download a 1 gig file at a time if I feel that's what I want to do. It suits my purposes just fine.
I'm sure once I get fapped, I'll change my tune though.

Wildblue claims that they email you once you reach 90% of your upload or download FAP limit.

Mine blinks all the time... I've never had a problem related to it.
The speed bursts are great... I've seen over a megabyte per second... even 2 or 3. More often that not, about 700Kbps...

I don't think it will work... You need like 100kbps up for it to even work. As much as their speeds fluctuate, it would cause a problem.
Also, satellite has high latency. (600ms to 1000ms) compared to cable or DSL (10ms to 40ms) I tried Packet8.net with my Wildblue connection and it wouldn't work. My upload speed is between 200-240kbps.

I have a band, so we need some noise.
I practice my drums in there. I have my computer hooked up there so I can get it loud enough to hear if I want to play along with something.
The amp head you see in the picture pushed 600 watts. I have another head that does like 800, for when I want to bi-amp it with a crossover. There's other things I have that I don't leave set up in the living room... like a compressor, subs, etc...
It's really cool to play madden nfl with, though..

Wildblue's FAP used to be per calendar month.. so if you messed up and went over on the 20th, you'd have to wait until the 1st to get back up to browsing speed.

Uploads are now 5gb per rolling 30 days, downloads are only 17gb per rolling 30 days.
They were 22gb down/6gb up.

Cellular South down here in MS. Service is pretty good. Unlimited calls anywhere in MS and Memphis, TN to Jackson, TN. 50 bucks a month.

The thing about time warner is the account numbers. They are based on addresses, not names. Therefore, if cable has been in 3 other peoples names before yours, your account number is something like 12345-4. The dash signifies how many have had an account before your's.
A simple way to get around that is to claim you are renting a room in a house that has road runner and you want your own connection. Your address will be 123-A Main Street or something like that.
I have seen it done, and installed it myself. It mainly depends on the intelligence of the person you order it from, and the intelligence of the installer.
Since the speed cap is at the hub based on the MAC address of the modem, yes, you will double your speed.
It would probably be cheaper to just go with a business connection. I know in some cities they offer twice the speed, and a static IP for not that much more.

Apparantly, according to tech support, I'm on the "new" satellite. They've only been using it for a few weeks, which could explain the upload speed.
Engineering is supposed to be "on it".. we'll see.

Still... my upload speed seems kind of up there. As fast as it is, you'd think my download speed would be a little higher. Has anyone else encountered this?

My downloads on mydirecway.com's site are a whopping 75kbps. My UPLOADS however are around 200-300kbps.
WTF??!? I'd settle for 300kbps downloads right now!

Dickheads... The one time I actually give MS some info about myself willingly, and they screw me.
A 16mb pen drive is still 16megs of stuff to carry around. They should have kept a tally when people were signing up for this promotion and cut it off when they ran out.
It looks like they had like 10 to give away anyway.
