.s1, I don't know if I buy that.
First, I went to LAX.speakeasy.net (in California):
2005-05-01 08:21:02 EST: 811 / 490
Your download speed : 831199 bps, or 811 kbps.
A 101.4 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 502197 bps, or 490 kbps.
Then wdc.speakeasy.net (Washington, DC):
2005-05-01 08:26:37 EST: 838 / 349
Your download speed : 858679 bps, or 838 kbps.
A 104.8 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 358102 bps, or 349 kbps.
Then testmy.net using 579K file:
:::.. Upload Stats ..:::
Connection is:: 82 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 579 kB)
Upload Speed is:: 10 kB/s
Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (main)
Test Time:: Sun May 01 2005 08:29:15 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time)
Bottom Line:: 1X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 102.4 sec
Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 95.24 % faster than the average for host (direcpc.com)
Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-MO21JGZEB
BTW, I am in Northern Virginia, quite close to DC.
579K is pretty close to the 500K you say SE uses. I wonder if the ul protocol is the same for both. If SE uses fewer acknowledgements in their protocol, this might explain it (latency issues).
