Why would it be faster on my desktop and slower on my laptop with the same CSS file? Can you guys make me one please to get what i used to on my desktop? cdf216 Posted January 12, 2006 CID Share Posted January 12, 2006 the only pings in that trace that are higher than normal is the firts hop which should be under 5 ms but 10-15 ms is acceptable. All other hops seem fine. Now if you're concerned with the bandwidth-latency issue. we can always make a custom ccs file based on your current latency which seems to be 80-100 ms max. cdf216 Posted January 12, 2006 CID Share Posted January 12, 2006 ok let's try fixing the settings for a 50 ms latency which is easy enough Open Cablenut and retrieve your current settings. then change the following values: GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize to 52560 TcpWindowSize to 52560 Leave everything else the same and try both a speed test and time it for page loading while browsing. sometimes a compromise is needed. cdf216 Posted January 21, 2006 CID Share Posted January 21, 2006 If the router is only 4 feet away from the computer I'd run it wired using good quality Cat-6 cable instead of going wireless. Interference from nearby electronics can severely limit wireless speeds. BTW if speed dropped that much from just going wireless you should definitely go wired.
