cacophony34 Posted January 22, 2006 CID Share Posted January 22, 2006 Well, if you can't reach 90% of your ISP's advertised speed you might have a problem. Luckily that problem can be fixed in most cases by tweaking your windows registry. There are a lot of tweak programs out on the internet. Unfortunately, not all of them do the job right. When you need help with tweaking, add these things in your post. 1. Windows XP 2. Verizon DSL, Up to 3 Mbps/768Kbps 3. TCP properties for IP = XXXXXXXX () Browser/OS = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1. Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address. TCP options string = 020405a00103030101010402 MTU = 1480 MTU is optimized for Windows XP PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput. MSS = 1440 MSS is optimized for Windows XP PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising your MTU value. Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 69120 RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor of 2) Unscaled Receive Window = 34560 RWIN is not fully optimized (even though it is a comparatively large number). The unscaled RWIN value is lower than it should be. Also, RWIN being close to and above 65535 does not justify the header overhead of enabling TCP Options. You might want to use one of the recommended RWIN values below. RWIN is a multiple of MSS Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS: 506880 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 253440 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4) 126720 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2) 63360 (MSS x 44) bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test): Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2764.8 kbps (345.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1105.92 kbps (138.24 KBytes/s) @ 500ms MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON Time to live left = 121 hops TTL value is ok.
