Its the pings im most annoyed about: PING 70.32.189.231 (70.32.189.231) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 70.32.189.231: icmp_seq=0 ttl=116 time=44.4 ms 64 bytes from 70.32.189.231: icmp_seq=1 ttl=116 time=47.5 ms 64 bytes from 70.32.189.231: icmp_seq=2 ttl=116 time=48.9 ms 64 bytes from 70.32.189.231: icmp_seq=3 ttl=116 time=45.0 ms 64 bytes from 70.32.189.231: icmp_seq=4 ttl=116 time=43.8 ms --- 70.32.189.231 ping statistics --- 5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 4039ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 43.803/45.960/48.941/1.979 ms, pipe 2 Well here, when i run the test, it averages about 45ms, but when i go to ANY online game, it goes to like 145ms! thats +100 more in EVERY game. I checked to see if im running anything else in the background, but nope, nothing, just game and os. So yea, i lag alot in online gaming, and i get kicked out of servers due to "high ping". I'm extreamly annoyed about this. Strangely enough, the only time i get low pings is when the server (or player) is located in japan! very weird, then the ping goes to about 85 (which is cool).I live in the west coast of the US, so im wondering, why japan?? Anywhere else in the world, the ping is 145ms+ Last year, i had DSL and the pings were average 35ms, and when i try online gaming, it would STAY 35ms. I have a router, but even when i take it off and direct connect the computer to the modem, the pings are still high. So my problem is: whats causing this? how can i fix it? and why japan? The game is C&C Generals Zero:Hour Also BF2, but it has many different servers, but i still get high ping on the lowest pinged servers! kishankaru1234 Posted March 19, 2006 Author CID Share Posted March 19, 2006 what i meant is, far as BF2 goes, even if i join a server thats hosted in cities right next to mine, I still get pings 150+

kishankaru1234 Posted March 19, 2006 Author CID Share Posted March 19, 2006 I live @ Rowland Heights, CA. (city very close to los angeles) I guess this high ping is also the cause of my bad quality VOIP. When i talk on the phone, it almost always disconnects or freezes very often. Like i cant hear what the other person is saying for like 2-5 secs and vice versa. I called VOIP constomer service and all they say is "its ur router" or "cant help you there" b.s. same problem even without using the router
