CB123 Posted May 15, 2006 CID Share Posted May 15, 2006 I was wondering if anybody can help me with my download speed. My upload speed is low as well, but is nowhere near as bad as my download speed is. I checked a couple of other threads here and tried some of the tweaks and programs, but I have had no luck. I did a virus scan and a scan for spyware, but my download speed is still extremely slow. Here are my test results: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 189 Kbps about 0.19 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 23 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 2) Test Time:: 2006/05/15 - 1:51pm Bottom Line:: 3X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 44.52 sec Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 129.672 seconds to complete Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.3) Gecko/20060426 Firefox/1.5.0.3 Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 3.61 % of your hosts average (verizon.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-3AMGVPO25 :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 385 Kbps about 0.39 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Upload Speed is:: 47 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 2) Test Time:: 2006/05/15 - 1:48pm Bottom Line:: 7X faster than 56K 1MB Upload in 21.79 sec Tested from a 579 kB file and took 12.33024 seconds to complete Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.3) Gecko/20060426 Firefox/1.5.0.3 Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 57.63 % of your hosts average (verizon.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-C51YO6GNI Thanks in advance for any help. resopalrabotnick Posted May 15, 2006 CID Share Posted May 15, 2006 remember the average is not of your connection speed but of all of verizons connections tested here. what are you paying for, meaning how much should you be getting? and what are your test results? VanBuren Posted May 15, 2006 CID Share Posted May 15, 2006 27% should be around 1400 Kbps (189 / 3.61) x 27 = 1413,57 Kbps if you have a 1500 Kbps cap, thats fine 1400/1500 = 0,93 x 100 = 93% of advertised then add approx 7 to 10 % TCP overhead and your truespeed is 1413.57 x 1.07 = 1512,5 Kbps VanBuren
